Brownfields
Redevelopment
In the United States, Brownfields redevelopment
is a major focus of the EPA's nationwide
cleanup effort. Brownfields cleanup and
redevelopment improve commercial company
balance sheets through substantial increases
in blighted real estate property values.
Brownfields
redevelopment is occurring in inner cities,
along waterways, even in rural settings.
More than half of all cleanup sites include
heavy metals contamination found in rail
yards, at industrial and chemical sites,
metal smelters, steel plants, firing ranges
and BRAC sites. Brownfields cleanup involves
a broad range of metals contamination
from near action levels to extensive hazardous
material cleanups involving contaminated
waste, soil and sludge. Metals commonly
encountered include lead, arsenic, cadmium
and mercury but many other metals can
be encountered.
MT2 provides
the following services in support of the
EPA’s Brownfields initiative:
•
Investigation/feasibility analysis
• Technology evaluation
• Treatability studies
• Treatment cost optimizations
• Turnkey in-situ or ex-situ
remediation via the company’s
proprietary ECOBOND technology
• Innovative field analytical
methods

The
EPA and state regulators have previously
approved the ECOBOND technology. The treatment
process provides an advanced in-situ or
ex-situ approach for a wide variety of
metals utilizing innovative methods, converting
a RCRA hazardous waste into a non-hazardous
material.
Advantages
of MT2’s ECOBOND Technology for
Brownfields Redevelopment
MT2’s
ECOBOND technology is broadly applicable
for:
•
Soil /silt /sediment stabilization
and reuse
• Firing range closures
• In-situ and ex-situ treatment
for building reuse
• Mine and smelter sites
• Lead-based paint abatement
